The Uptown Theater is located at 3700 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City, Missouri. It is a historic theatre with a seating capacity of 1,700. The venue is under the ownership of UGA and operated by AEG. The theatre was opened to the public on January 6, 1928. It remained closed between 1989-98 and got re-opened in 1998. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 27, 1979, as the Uptown Building and Theatre. The architecture of the theatre is designed by John Eberson and Robert Gornall. It follows a Renaissance architectural style as an atmospheric theatre. The venue is only one of its kind in Kansas City along with the State of Missouri. It was also the first theater in Kansas City outside of downtown to show first-run films.
This venue hosted live vaudeville and movies along with stage productions. Currently, it hosts musical concerts. It is ranked number 82 on the list of the top 100 theaters in the world by Pollstar, the concert industry magazine. The venue hosted "farewell" show by the native Kansas City band The GetUp Kids.
You may purchase the tickets to the Uptown Theatre in person at their box office: Monday to Friday 10 am-4 pm or Sat 10 am-2 pm. You can buy tickets online at TicketsOnSale.com at cheap rates.
