The Louise M. Davies Symphony hall is a concert auditorium which is located at 201 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, California, United States. The arena was opened to the public in 1980 with a seating capacity of around 2,743 people at a time. The concert hall is the component of the San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center. The purpose of building this concert hall was to provide the San Francisco Symphony, a permanent home. The arena is owned and operated by San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center.
The architecture of the Davies Symphony Hall was done by Owings & Merrill, Skidmore, and Pietro Belluschi. In 1992, Kirkegaard Associates completed its acoustical renovation at $10 million. The restoration came up with some useful improvements at the place. The Fratelli Ruffatti pipe organ, with 147 ranks, was added to the concert hall in 1984. It is programmed to correspond with the major two organ’s school keyboard organizations; one was the German, and the other was the French. Contemporary musicians performed here occasionally for non-orchestral performances. The place hosts hundreds of events, concerts, and other shows throughout the year.
