The NRG Arena is a sports center which is located at NRG Park, 1 NRG Park Houston, Texas. Formerly, the venue was known as Astroarena and Reliant Arena. The NRG Arena was built and opened for the public in 1974. The seating capacity of the arena is about 8,000. The venue constitutes four big Exhibit Halls along with small meeting rooms, offices, and Stockman’s Club. NRG Arena is owned by Harris County Sports and Convention Corporation while it is operated by SMG. The architecture of the venue was designed by Lloyd Jones and Associates. It was a former home to the Women's National Basketball Association's Houston Comets. Some other famous tenants of the venue include the names of Houston Angels, Houston Hotshots, Rice Owls, Houston Comets, and Houston Lightning.

The NRG Arena plays host to several events which include Catholic Youth Conferences, sports events, and concerts. In 2003, the National Catholic Youth Conference was hosted by the venue. The arena has also hosted some of the peripheral events of Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo along with the biggest bull-riding event, Bud Light Cup, organized by PBR (The Professional Bull Rider, Inc.). The arena hosted the 2007 Vans Warped Tour on July 16, 2007. In 2005, the arena served as an auxiliary house and an on-field clinic for the people that got affected by the disastrous Hurricane Katrina.
