The Fredericton Playhouse is a non-profit organization that was constructed in 1964. The venue is used for hosting touring and local performers. The Playhouse is situated at the direction of Lady and Lord Beaverbrook. It served as a home site to Theatre New Brunswick between 1969 and 2003. This Georgian-style building can be found adjacent to the provincial legislature in downtown Fredericton, New Brunswick. James de Beaujeu Domville amazingly aided the design of the building.
The Fredericton Playhouse was built as a gift to New Brunswick from the great Lord Beaverbrook in 1964. The building underwent renovation in 1972 with an expansion in technical capabilities as well. The City of Fredericton purchased the theatre in 2000. Later in 2006, a complete infrastructure assessment was undertaken by the Federal Government of Canada to provide financial support.
The Fredericton Playhouse auditorium has a seating capacity of 709 with 469 orchestra seats and 240 balcony seats. The theatre can easily be reserved for receptions and special meetings.
