The Oakdale Theatre, also known as the Oakdale Musical Theatre, is a multi-purpose venue located at 95 South Turnpike Rd, Wallingford, Connecticut. Built at a construction cost of 150,000, the Oakdale Theatre opened to the general public on June 21, 1954. The venue consists of domed theatre (The Dome at Oakdale) and an auditorium. It has a seating capacity of approximately 4,803 (Main auditorium) and 1,649 (The Dome). The facility is under the ownership of Live Nation, Connecticut. It underwent a $21 million renovation in 1996 by Rothman, Rothman & Heineman Architects. The venue closed in 1989 and reopened on July 7, 1996.
Oakdale Theatre hosts a wide variety of theater, concerts, and traveling Broadway shows. Across its decades of history, the Dome has seen performances by some well-known artists including Cream, Ethel Merman, The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Pretty Lights, the Dropkick Murphys, the Neon Trees, Steve Aoki, Avicii, Twenty One Pilots, Third Eye Blind, Young Jeezy, Paul Anka, Modest Mouse, and many other notable performers. Brooks & Dunn and Ray Davies performed concerts soon after the renovation was completed in July of 1996. The venue hosted many famous plays, including Kate, South Pacific, Kiss Me, and Oklahoma.
