The Fargo Theatre is a movie theater and live event venue located in Fargo, North Dakota. The theatre broke ground in 1925 and opened for the public on March 15, 1926. After being restored in 1999, the building is now a center for the arts in the main Fargo-Moorhead metropolitan area. It is operated by Fargo Theatre Management Corporation and Jade Presents. The theatre serves as home to a 4-manual, 32-rank Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ maintained and owned by the Red River Theatre Organ Society. The instrument is known as the “Mighty Wurlitzer.”
The Fargo Theatre was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 21, 1982, and has served as the main venue for the Fargo Film Festival since 2001. The festival accepts submissions from several independent filmmakers from across 32 states and 15 different countries. The building of the Fargo Theatre is beautifully designed by Buechner & Orth along with Liebenberg and Kaplan. Its architectural style is Modern Movement and Early Commercial. The Fargo Theatre is partnered with Magnolia Pictures and Eventive, having two big screens, to offer a fantastic virtual cinema to audiences.
