The State Theater is a non-profit theater located at 15 Livingston Ave, New Brunswick, New Jersey. It has a seating capacity of approximately 1,800. The venue was open for the general public on December 26, 1921. It underwent an Art-Deco renovation in the year, 1933. The theater underwent more renovations a couple of times in 1987 and 2003, reopening in 2004. Thomas W. Lamb designed the architecture of the State Theatre.

Initially, in 1921, the venue used to host both movies and live performances. In the 1950s, the theater began to host famous rock n roll events featuring The Satins and Chubby Checker. Today, the venue hosts a variety of different events, which include comedy shows, dance, pop, rock, international orchestras, and family events. The international bands hosted by the theater include the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Munich Symphony Orchestra, among few others. The great performances hosted by the venue are performed by Lewis Black, Aretha Franklin, and David Copperfield.

Along with providing a diverse roster of entertainment, the venue also hosts over 180 education programs, reaching out to thousands of teachers, students, and families annually with different performances, workshops, and activities. This is done for the sake of making the performing arts affordable for every person in the community. Currently, the venue is also a part of the League of Historic American Theaters.

You can visit the Box Office of the State Theater New Brunswick to buy tickets for any upcoming event from Monday through Thursday: 10 am to 6 pm and on Fridays: 10 am to 5 pm. Discounted tickets can also be purchased online at TicketsOnSale.com.
