Commonwealth Stadium, also known as The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium, is a multi-purpose venue located at 11000 Stadium Road, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The stadium serves as home to the Canadian Football League's Edmonton Eskimos. It opened to the general public on July 15, 1978, with a construction cost of around $20.9 million. It has a seating capacity of approximately 55,819 people. The stadium is under the ownership of the City of Edmonton. Bell, McCulloch, and Spotowski designed the architecture of the venue. It underwent renovations in 2001 and 2008, with a renovation cost of $273.3 million.

Commonwealth Stadium has hosted a wide variety of sporting events including 1996 CONCACAF Men's Pre-Olympic Tournament, 2001 World Championships in Athletics, 2002 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship, 2006 Women's Rugby World Cup, 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup, 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, and 1983 Summer Universiade. The venue has also hosted the CFL'S championship game, the Grey Cup, five times over its long history. The highest attendance record of 63,317 people recorded at the stadium was in the 2010 Grey Cup. An outdoor ice hockey game, the 2003 Heritage Classic was played on November 22 between Edmonton Oilers and the Montreal Canadiens at the stadium. The Edmonton Trappers AAA baseball team defeated the California Angels of MLB in 1983 in front of 24,830 people.
