McFarlin Auditorium, also known as the McFarlin Memorial Auditorium, is a proscenium-style theatre located in University Park, Texas. The venue is situated on the campus of Southern Methodist University. It officially opened for the public in 1926. The theatre has a seating capacity of 2,386. The venue is under the ownership of Southern Methodist University. R. H. Hunt completed the architecture of the building. The architectural style followed for the theatre is Colonial Revival and Georgian Revival. The facility is currently used as an auditorium along with a theatre. McFarlin Auditorium’s building is the third oldest on SMU’s campus and hosts a long list of notable acts.

McFarlin Auditorium was opened to fulfill the University’s pressing need for a chapel that accommodates the entire student body. Some of the recent additions to the theatre include renovation of restrooms, restoration of the main lobby to its historic integrity, installation of a sprung floor on stage, and complete reupholster of the auditorium’s seats.

Some of the notable speakers who ruled the stage at the McFarlin Auditorium include Ruth Bader Ginsburg, George W. Bush, Stephen Hawking, George H.W. Bush, Margaret Thatcher, Martin Luther King Jr., Charlton Heston, and Winston Churchill. A long list of performers rocked the stage, such as Dashboard Confessional, The Grateful Dead, Conan O’Brien, Death Cab for Cutie, Shawn Mendes, Barry Manilow, and Elton John.
