Franklin Music Hall, known for years as the Electric Factory, is a concert venue in Philadelphia. It is located at421 N. 7th Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The name Electric Factory is due to its presence in a converted electric factory. The venue was opened to the general public in 1995(second incarnation). It is owned by Larry Magid.
The Franklin Music Hall is an indoor theater with a seating capacity of 2500-3000. The Factory hosts a variety of musical acts in the rap, electronic, heavy metal, rock, grunge, and pop genres. It was the place for the filming of Lamb of God's, Underoath, Yellowcard, etc. The most recent filming done was The Starting Line, along with a live recording from The Fray.
The Electric Factory was sold to The Bowery Presents in 2018 and was temporarily known as "North Seventh." It was re-named to Franklin Music Hall in October 2018. It was originally founded by Sheldon Kaplan, Herbert Spivak, and his brothers Jerry Spivak and Allen Spivak.
Some famous music bands that performed at this Factory include the Philadelphia-based livetronica band, The Disco Biscuits that played the majority of sold-out shows in the history of the venue as compared to other bands. The first performance at this place was done by the Chambers Brothers in February 1968. The concert hall is not only available for concerts but also for Corporate Functions along with Private Parties.
