Michael Brandon Lake is a Christian worship guitarist, pastor, singer, and songwriter. Lake is the worship pastor at Seacoast Church in Charleston, South Carolina, and a Maverick City Music collective member. In 2015, Lake launched a successful crowdfunding campaign to produce an album; the following year, his first studio album, Closer, was released independently.

Released in 2022, Help! is Lake's third studio album and a discussion of mental health. On the Billboard Top Christian Albums list in the United States, Help! debuted at position number 18. The third song off his album House of Miracles (2020), "Gratitude," became Lake's first solo number-one on Hot Christian Songs. Other artists that Lake has worked with include Brooke Ligertwood ("Honey in the Rock") and Maverick City Music ("Fear Is Not My Future"), which features Kirk Franklin and Chandler Moore.

Lake and Phil Wickham's "People of Heaven" was released as a digital-only single on July 28, 2023, to commemorate the end of their Summer Worship Nights tour. "People of Heaven" landed at no when it was first released—40 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart. The second single from his next album, "Count 'Em," was released by Lake on August 4, 2023, along with a music video. On Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart, "Count 'Em" peaked at number 27. At the 2023 GMA Dove Awards, Lake was nominated for eleven prizes.
