The Grand Ole Opry is a weekly live radio broadcast from the Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee. On November 28, 1925, George D. Hay began hosting a radio "barn dance" on WSM. It was a one-hour show. It is the longest-running radio program in American history, and it is currently owned and produced by Opry Entertainment (a division of Ryman Hospitality Properties, Inc.).

In what is believed to be the first such double invitation in Opry family history, member Vince Gill invited frequent guests Charlie McCoy and Don Schlitz to join the Opry on the same day (June 11, 2022). Carly Pearce sang "Dear Ms. Loretta" on the Opry stage on the day of Loretta Lynn's death, October 4, 2022.

Several notable country music figures never became members of the Opry, even though its membership is widely regarded as an honor on par with a Hall of Fame entry. Don Schlitz, who began making regular performances on the Opry stage only after Randy Travis's incapacitation and sang songs he had written for Travis and non-Opry member Kenny Rogers, became the first member of the Opry to be honored for his composition on August 30, 2022.
