Luis Miguel Gallego Basteri is a Mexican record producer and singer. He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His father, also his manager, made him study Elvis Presley's films, albums, and live performances from a young age. At 11, he was awarded his first gold disc for his debut album, Un Sol, issued by the Mexican division of EMI Records in 1982.

The "officially authorized TV series" based on Luis Miguel's life story will premiere on Telemundo in 2018, as revealed on May 4, 2017, after the network secured the exclusive U.S. broadcast rights. Netflix also announced on the same day that it had secured the rights to stream the untitled series in Latin America and Spain beginning on the same day. He announced the October 27 release of his new track, "La Fiesta del Mariachi," on his official Facebook page.

The album México Por Siempre!, featuring 14 tracks of traditional Mexican music, was published on November 24. April 22 marked the premiere of Luis Miguel, a Netflix and Telemundo original series starring Luis Miguel.
