Every year in New Orleans, Louisiana's Fair Grounds Race Course, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival—also known as Jazz Fest or Jazzfest—celebrates the city's music and heritage. Every year, hundreds of people flock to New Orleans for Jazz Fest. They were established in 1970 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation (NPO); the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation Inc. is its legal name.

Aside from the Festival, the organization's holdings include the Jazz & Heritage Foundation Archive, The George & Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center, and radio station WWOZ 90.7 FM. The Jazz & Heritage Gala is an annual fundraiser for the Foundation, which uses the proceeds to support several educational initiatives and specialized festival events.

For the first time in Jazz Fest's fifty-year existence, the two-week Festival was canceled in 2020 due to fears over the pandemic. It was subsequently canceled after being postponed to October 8-17, 2021. After a two-year break, it resumed in 2022.
