Professional golfers compete in the November Texas Children's Houston Open, held in Texas and part of the PGA Tour. Due to a schedule reorganization, the event was shifted to fall 2019. It was one of the first tournaments of the 2020 PGA Tour rather than the 2019 one because the tour year begins in the previous year's fall. The Harris County event occurs at the Memorial Park Municipal Golf Course, close to the Galleria and downtown Houston.

From 1992 to 2017, the event was sponsored by Shell Oil Company. Upon learning of Shell's decision to withdraw its sponsorship, the PGA Tour declared its intention to find a replacement sponsor for the 2018 season. Jim Crane, owner of the Houston Astros, was among the new sponsors that inked a five-year deal with the PGA Tour to keep the event in Houston then. Under the Astros Golf Foundation's auspices, the tournament is now run by the Astros Foundation, and it has a new logo that pays homage to the 1980s Astros "Rainbow Guts" uniforms.

The 2022 season event, which took place in November 2021, was sponsored by Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Cadence Bank served as the event's sponsor for the 2023 season (which began in November 2022). This tournament, which is being sponsored by Texas Children's Hospital, will return to its spring schedule in March 2024 and the PGA Tour's calendar-year format.
