Toledo Mud Hens is another famous American team that is a prominent Triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers in Minor League Baseball's International League. The Hens were previously known as Toledo Sox (1953–1955), Toledo Iron Men (1916–1918), and Toledo Blue Stockings (1883–1885). The team plays its home games at Fifth Third Field. Ned Skeldon Stadium (1965–2001) used to be the formal home venue for the team. Hens is based in Toledo, Ohio. Since 1896, the Mud Hens team has competed in Toledo, including 50 years as a part of the now-defunct American Association. The franchise that exists now was started in 1965. In 2021, they entered Triple-A East, which in 2022 changed its name to the International League.

In 1896 and 1897, the Hens won in the Interstate League playoffs. In 1937,1943, and 1944, Toledo, which participated in the American Association, advanced to the semifinals. They swept the regular season and the semifinal game against the Louisville Colonels 4-3 in 1953, but they fell to the Kansas City Blues 4-3 in the championship game.

Columbus Clippers and Indianapolis Indians are the two rivalries of the team. Muddy and Muddonna is the official mascot of the team. Hens are owned and operated by Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club (a non-profit corporation). Erik Ibsen is the current general manager of the team. The official uniform colors of the team include navy, red, white, and gold.
