Scheels Arena, previously named as The Urban Plains Center or UPC, is a multi-purpose arena. It is located at 5225 South 31ST Avenue Fargo, ND. The venue was built and opened to the general public in 2008, with a construction cost of $25 million. The Scheels Arena has a seating capacity of 6,000 for Basketball and 5,000 for Ice Hockey. The arena is owned and operated by Metro Sports Foundation. ICON Architectural Group designed the Scheels Arena. The Scheels Arena is associated with the Sanford Health Athletic Park which incorporates the Arena and the Family Wellness Center.

Various notable events were held at the Scheels Arena such as Fargo Moorhead high school hockey, IIHF World U18 Championships (2009), the US Curling Nationals for both men and women (2011), United States Olympic Curling Trials (2014), NCAA Men’s Division I Ice Hockey Tournament West Regional, along with rodeos and concerts. The arena has also hosted North Dakota State Bison men’s basketball team.
