Mariah Carey (March 27, 1969) is an American actress, singer, songwriter, and record producer born in Huntington, New York. Carey's first public performance was of "America the Beautiful" at the 1990 NBA Finals on June 5. The highlight was a piercing whistle note toward the song's end, prompting CBS Sports anchor Pat O'Brien to exclaim, "The palace now has a queen." 

Carey's live performance of "I'll Be There" topped the Billboard Hot 100, marking her sixth number-one single overall. At the 2022 BET Awards in June, Carey sang alongside Latto. Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas to All!, a television special based on her New York City performances, premiered on CBS on December 20, 2022, and quickly became the night's most-watched program, attracting a total of 3.8 million viewers and a 0.4 demo rating.
 
Some Like It Hot, a musical adaptation of the 1959 comedy film of the same name, opened on Broadway on December 11, 2022, with Carey as a co-producer. It got her nominated for a Tony Award in the Best Musical category. When the 2009 song "It's a Wrap" saw a renaissance on TikTok in February 2023, it prompted Carey to produce an EP for the song, which included a new sped-up version. Carey published Music Box Deluxe on September 8, 2023.
