Peter Gene Hernandez (October 8, 1985) is an American record producer, singer, and songwriter. He is professionally known by his stage name, Bruno Mars. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was interviewed by Pauly Shore on MTV in 1992 after making a cameo appearance in the film Honeymoon in Vegas. He was featured on The Arsenio Hall Show at six years old, and he spent all of elementary school playing two gigs a night with his family's band, covering the likes of Frankie Lymon and Little Anthony.

During the 2020s, Mars was the most successful hip-hop/R&B touring musician, according to Pollstar. After directing the music video for "Leave the Door Open" in 2021, Mars and Dechard took home the Video Director of the Year award at the BET Awards that year. An Evening with Silk Sonic is the debut studio album he co-wrote and produced with Anderson.Paak was released in 2021.

He was working on his fourth solo studio album in February 2023, and he brought Brody Brown in to assist in producing it, as Brown disclosed in an interview.
