Rockies right-hander Tanner Gordon broke through just over a month after making his debut. At Petco Park, the 26-year-old pitcher allowed only one hit and one run over six innings in a no-decision. However, the Padres were able to score in the ninth inning, defeating Colorado 3-2.

Freeland departed Tuesday's series opener against the Mets in the top of the fifth inning with a blister on his left index finger. After getting the first batter out, he allowed Tyrone Taylor to get on base and let Francisco Lindor go on base as well.
