The New York Jets play American football at the professional level. The team debuted in 1959 as the Titans of New York, a charter member of the AFL; following the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, the franchise switched leagues and became part of the NFL. The team played the first game at the Polo Grounds in 1960. The current moniker was chosen in 1963, and the team relocated to Shea Stadium in 1964 and subsequently to the Meadowlands Sports Complex in 1984, all while under new ownership.

They added offensive tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu in the first round of the draft to help keep Rodgers upright and brought in linebacker Payton Wilson to add depth on defense. The core—Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, and Sauce Gardner—remains intact. The Jets open the season against Buffalo in what’s already a statement game.
