The Spokane Chiefs, representing Spokane, Washington, in the Western Hockey League, are a major junior ice hockey team. The Spokane Arena is the site of the team's home games. Similar to the Montreal Canadiens' uniforms from the National Hockey League. Regarding CHL spectatorship in 2010, Spokane was among the league's top 10 cities. Both the 1991 and 2008 Memorial Cups were won by the Chiefs.  

The 2007-08 season marked the most victories for the Spokane Chiefs since the 1999-2000 season when they advanced to the WHL Finals. The squad spent much of the season ranked in the top 10 of the CHL and eventually reached no. 1 in late February, thanks to a strong goaltender tandem and an offensive attack led by Drayson Bowman, a draft pick of the Carolina Hurricanes. 

On January 15, 2011, they played the Kootenay Ice in the first outdoor hockey game in WHL history at Avista Stadium. You may listen to AM 1510 KGA for all the Spokane Chiefs games throughout Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho, and even some British Columbia. The Chiefs' games are currently being called by Mike Boyle, a sports anchor and reporter for KREM 2. After longtime announcer Craig West moved to join the Tri-City Americans, Jay Stewart took over as Spokane's radio voice until the 2001 season.
