The Grand Prix of Long Beach is an IndyCar Series race on a street circuit in the heart of Long Beach, California. Since 2019, it has been branded as the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach due to naming rights issues. The event's originator is Christopher Pook. From 1996 through 2008, it served as the main event of the CART/Champ Car World Series, and the 2008 edition was the last of the series before the official merger and the conclusion of the open-wheel "split" between CART and IRL. The contest has been a part of the unified IndyCar Series since 2009. Usually, the event takes place in April. It is considered a prestigious event on the circuit and one of the longest-running Indy car races.

The longest-running major street race in North America is the Long Beach Grand Prix. It began as a Formula 5000 race in 1975 and became a Formula One race in 1976. Long Beach was one of the few tracks utilized from when Renault launched turbocharged engines in 1977 to the final Long Beach Grand Prix in 1983, never having a turbo-powered car win. This was when turbocharged engines were beginning to gain popularity in Formula One.

The Formula One record for the lowest-ever starting position for a race winner is held by John Watson's victory for McLaren in 1983. In his McLaren-Ford, Watson started 22nd out of 26 vehicles. Niki Lauda, a teammate of Watson's and the 1982 Long Beach champion, finished second in the same race after starting 23rd on the grid. The only driver to ever place on the Formula One podium at Long Beach while driving a turbocharged vehicle was René Arnoux, who took third place in his Ferrari 126C2B.
