Manowar is an American heavy metal band. The current lineup includes Joey DeMaio, Eric Adams, Dave Chedrick, and Michael Angelo Batio. In 1980, while Joey DeMaio was working as a bass tech and fireworks manager for Black Sabbath on the Heaven & Hell Tour, he met guitarist Ross the Boss. Joey would later become the bassist of Manowar. John "Dawk" Stillwell designed the instruments for Joey DeMaio and Ross the Boss and proposed the moniker Manowar.

Manowar stated in May 2020 that in celebration of their 40th anniversary, they would start a tour throughout Europe in April 2021. 2020 and 2021 were not band tour years. Dave Chedrick was confirmed as the band's replacement for drummer Anders Johansson on June 4, 2022, the day before the first gig of their 2022/23 tour. Johansson was unable to participate in the upcoming "Crushing The Enemies of Metal Anniversary Tour ''22/'23" owing to family obligations. 

Michael Angelo Batio was named the band's touring guitarist for the 2023 "Crushing The Enemies Of Metal" Anniversary Tour on September 2, 2022, after guitarist E. V. Martel revealed that he would not be available for touring next year.
