The Kansas State Wildcats, a men's basketball team, represents Kansas State University. Being a part of the Big 12 Conference, the program is categorized as NCAA Division I. Coach Jerome Tang is currently in charge of the team.

Competition for the program started in 1902. In 1917 and 1919, the school's men's basketball team won the Missouri Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship, the first major conference win for the institution. Afterward, Kansas State won 19 regular-season conference titles.

With their most recent appearance in 2023, Kansas State University has made 32 appearances in NCAA basketball tournaments. The squad had an NCAA tournament record of 39-35 (.527) overall. The 1951 tournament was Kansas State's finest showing, but Kentucky defeated them in the finals. 

There have been 36 All-Americans, 19 conference regular-season winners, and nine conference tournament champions from Kansas State. It is one of the top 25 programs in the country.  According to the ESPN College Basketball Encyclopedia, the program was ranked 27th all-time by Jeff Sagarin. The Wildcats' record is 1,717-1,222 as of the 2022-23 season.

Missouri has played 237 games against Kansas State since 1907, making them the second-most-played foe of the 2022-23 season. The score is 121-116 in favor of Kansas State. Before Missouri joined the Southeastern Conference in 2011–2012, this was the final regular season in which the teams played each other.
