The Portland Sea Dogs are an Eastern League minor league baseball club from Portland, Maine. The Boston Red Sox's Double-A club, the Sea Dogs, has been around since 1994. Having previously been connected with the Florida Marlins, the Sea Dogs became a member of the Red Sox system for the 2003 season. 

The 2005 and 2006 seasons were successful after the Sea Dogs changed their affiliation. In both years, they advanced to the Eastern League championship series. In a rematch of the series from the previous year, they defeated the Akron Aeros 8-5 on September 17, 2006, to win their first title. Since the 1983 New Britain Red Sox, no Red Sox farm team had won a Double-A title until this year.

Emma Tiedemann now does the play-by-play for all games on a network of radio stations; the flagship WPEI does both home and away games. Following its reformation in 2021, the Double-A Northeast adopted the name of the Eastern League in 2022. This was the circuit's previous moniker. The Burke family, who had owned the Sea Dogs for a long time, sold the team to Diamond Baseball Holdings before the 2023 season.
