Dean Lewis Grant Loaney (October 21, 1987) is an Australian pop singer and songwriter. He was born in Sydney, New South Wales. After a brief stint with Independent Records, Lewis signed with Island Records and Universal Music Australia in March of 2016. Lewis's first single, "Waves," peaked at number 12 on the Australian ARIA Charts after its release on September 30, 2016. On May 12, 2017, Lewis dropped his debut extended play, Same Kind of Different, which peaked at number 27 on the ARIA Album Charts. His single "Need You Now" was released in April of that year.

"Be Alright" by Lewis was released in June of 2018. His first number-one hit in Australia, it spent five weeks atop the country's charts and was eventually certified eight times platinum. In addition to topping the charts in the United States and Canada, it was the most popular song in Belgium, Sweden, Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Scotland. "7 Minutes" by Lewis came out in January of 2019.

Lewis's new single, "Falling Up," was released on March 5, 2021. Lewis explained that the song is about how easy it is to get caught up in the "one negative comment in a sea of good" while you're online. Inspired by a real-life situation in which an ex-girlfriend was allegedly "hanging out" with a guy who looked like Lewis, Lewis released "Looks Like Me" on October 22, 2021. On April 1, 2022, "Hurtless" was released as a sequel. His farewell single, "How Do I Say Goodbye," came out on September 2, 2022.
