Kedarnath Bhattacharya (October 20, 1957) is an Indian playback singer. He is professionally known as Kumar Sanu. He was born in Calcutta, West Bengal, India. From 1984 on, Sanu began performing under the stage name Sanu Bhattacharya. In 1986, he starred in Shibli Sadiq's Teen Kanya, a film from Bangladesh. Hero Hiralal was the film that featured his first major Bollywood song. (1988).

Sanu was first introduced to Kalyanji by Jagjit Singh in 1989 in Mumbai's Vimal Bunglow. At their urging, Sanu changed his birth name, Sanu Bhattacharya, to the more popular Kumar Sanu in honor of his musical hero, Kishore Kumar. Sanu moved to Mumbai, where Kalyanji-Anandji gave him a singing role in Jaadugar. Early in his career, Sanu issued a collection of Kumar's songs titled Kishore Ki Yaadein. Then the Yaadein series came out, in which he and fellow vocalists Abhijeet Bhattacharya and Vinod Rathod covered many of Kishore Kumar's songs.

Sanu has worked as a composer for several Indian films. Utthaan and Yeh Sunday Kyun Aata Hai stand out the most. Numerous famous singers, including Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Anuradha Paudwal, Sapna Mukherjee, Alka Yagnik, Sonu Nigam, Sadhana Sargam, Sudesh Bhonsle, Shaan, Shreya Ghosal, Hema Sardesai, Sunidhi Chauhan, and dozens more, contributed their voices to his work.
