Austin Richard Post (July 4, 1995) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and rapper. He is professionally known by his stage name, Post Malone. Malone started making music in 2011, and his first single, "White Iverson," from 2015, became a success, reaching number 14 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Malone got a record deal with Republic Records and released his first album, Stoney, in 2016.

On May 14, 2022, as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live, he and Ricch sang "Cooped Up," and then he was joined by Fleet Foxes for a performance of an unreleased song titled "Love/Hate Letter to Alcohol." Malone has already stated that he and Robin Pecknold, leader of the band Fleet Foxes, had collaborated on a song for the album. Malone confirmed the recording of a new album in April of 2023.

Released on April 14, "Chemical" is Malone's first taste of his impending fifth studio album. Malone's record-breaking eight RIAA Diamond-certified songs and his ninth charting hit "Chemical" were collected on the album The Diamond Collection, published on April 21, 2023. Austin, Malone's fifth studio album, was announced for release on May 16, 2023. It was given a release date of July 28, 2023. The album's second single, "Mourning," came out on May 19. Released on July 14, "Overdrive" was the third single from the album.
