The Phoenix Symphony is a famous symphony orchestra from Phoenix, Arizona. Phoenix Symphony Hall is the Orchestra's primary performance venue. It is the only professional Orchestra in Arizona.

The Orchestra was founded in 1947 by amateur musicians who wanted to play together on special occasions. Between 1947 and 1948, John Manley Barnett served as the Orchestra's first music director, and the organization performed four performances annually. 

Part-time Arizona State University music department members began to join the group in the future. During the music guidance of Theo Alcántara, from 1978 to 1988, the Orchestra obtained full-time status in 1983.

From 2005 to 2013, Michael Christie led the Orchestra as its conductor. After becoming president and CEO of the Orchestra in 2011, Jim Ward restructured its finances to deal with budget shortfalls and other issues. After two guest conducting performances with the Orchestra, Tito Munoz was chosen as the 11th music director in February 2014.

When Ward stepped down as president and CEO of the Orchestra in January 2020, the officials announced that Suzanne Wilson would take up the role on January 21, 2020.

The Orchestra became the first in the United States to announce the cancellation of its 2020–2021 concert season in August 2020, citing the ongoing pandemic. On October 22, 2021, the Orchestra commenced performances for the 2021-22 season with a music program from the Romantic Era, including violin soloist Giora Schmidt.
