Yo-Yo Ma is an American cellist born in Paris, France. John Williams scored the 1997 Hollywood film Seven Years in Tibet, and Ma was featured on the soundtrack. Shows such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World featured his music. He once again worked with Williams on the score for the film Memoirs of a Geisha.

Not Our First Goat Rodeo, the follow-up album from the same band that brought you The Goat Rodeo Sessions, was released on June 19, 2020. On NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts on September 1, 2020, the same band played some songs from Not Our First Goat Rodeo. Ma appeared on Desert Island Discs on BBC Radio 4 on June 13, 2021.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, a 2022 Netflix film, included a cameo appearance by Ma.
