Tamia (May 9, 1975) is a Canadian singer and songwriter born in Windsor, Ontario. She attended Walkerville High School and went on to perform in numerous community theater productions and choral concerts, all leading up to her 1993 win of Canada's most esteemed YTV Vocal Achievement Award. Brenda, the ex-wife of music boss Lionel Richie, was a co-sponsor at the 1994 Aspen, Colorado, MS fundraiser where Tamia performed. Brenda introduced herself to Tamia after the show and the two became fast friends.

In September 2018, Plus One, 21 Entertainment and eOne Music released Passion Like Fire, Tamia's seventh studio album. Longtime collaborators Lil' Ronnie, Shep Crawford, and Salaam Remi were part of the smaller team she worked with on the album, which was a departure from her prior effort. Although reviews were mixed, the album nevertheless managed to debut at 145 on the US Billboard 200, which was her lowest-charting album to date, and it also reached 17 on the Top R&B Albums chart.

The Passion Like Fire Tour, which Tamia began on September 18, 2018, and stopped in most of the main US cities, was a promotional tour for the album. She was given the Soul Music Icon Award at the 2019 Black Music Honors, which took place for the fourth year in a row. Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia, bestowed an honorary Doctor of Music degree upon Tamia in 2023.
