Auburn University fields a men's varsity basketball team in NCAA Division I, known as the Tigers. As a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) member, the university participates in Division I collegiate athletics within the Southeastern Conference. The Tigers play their home games in Neville Arena, located on the Auburn University campus. The program has been running since 1906, and Bruce Pearl is the head coach at the moment.

Auburn has dominated the SEC, winning the regular season and tournament titles five times. Auburn has competed in the NCAA tournament 12 times, making it as far as the Final Four in 2019. Auburn has had 13 players named All-American and 98 players named All-SEC. There have been 35 Auburn alums in the NBA draft, the highest being Jabari Smith in 2022 at No. 3 overall. 

Charles Barkley in 1984 and Chris Porter in 1999 are the only two Auburn players to win SEC Player of the Year. Eight Tigers coaches have been chosen Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year, including 1999's unanimous selection of Cliff Ellis as the nation's top coach. Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Charles Barkley played for Auburn.
