As a college team from Storrs, Connecticut, the UConn Huskies men's basketball squad represents the University of Connecticut. The team plays in the Big East Conference. Dan Hurley is their current coach. Connecticut Agricultural College played its first men's basketball as an opposite team of Windham High School in January of 1901. Basketball became a varsity sport when the college team won in 1903.

In Greer's 16 full seasons at UConn, the Huskies won 12 Yankee Conference titles, including a record-setting ten from 1951 to 1960. Greer has a 286-112 record as UConn's head coach, guiding the team to its first seven NCAA tournaments and one NIT. The Crusaders' 47-game home winning streak was snapped when he led UConn to a 78-77 victory over them in 1954.

Shortly after Calhoun's retirement, Kevin Ollie replaced him as men's basketball coach. Ollie led the UConn Huskies to their first Final Four appearance since Jim Calhoun on March 30, 2014.

They beat the University of Kentucky 60-54 on April 7, 2014, to claim the title of men's NCAA basketball champions. He led the first team from a seventh seed to win the NCAA championship. In the 2015-16 season, Ollie led Connecticut to another American Athletic Conference title and an NCAA Tournament berth.

Dan Hurley replaced Kevin Ollie as UConn's men's basketball coach on March 23, 2018. Hurley lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament in his third and fourth years but finally won in 2023, his fifth year playing.
