Andrea Bocelli (September 22, 1958) is an Italian tenor born with congenital glaucoma. He became blind at 12 after suffering a brain hemorrhage. Bocelli's first recording contract was with the Sugar Music label. It was after he had already spent time performing in piano bars and winning local singing competitions.

1994, he starred after performing "Il mare calmo della sera" at the 44th Sanremo Music Festival. He won the competition for newcomers. He achieved fame as a crossover artist who popularized classical music worldwide.

Bocelli has over 75 million records sold worldwide since his debut in 1994. He has released 15 solo albums, three greatest hits, and nine full operas. Romanza, one of the best-selling albums ever, and Sacred Arias, the best-selling classical CD by a solo performer, are his notable works.

Aside from the gold medal for Merit, which he received in Serbia in 2022, Bocelli was named a Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 2006.

Bocelli's debut album with his children, Matteo and Virginia, was released on October 21, 2022. It was titled A Family Christmas. On November 11, 2022, Andrea, Matteo, and Virginia (then ten) performed a duet at The Royal Albert Hall. It took place at the UK Festival of Remembrance.

Bocelli and Bryn Terfel sang "You'll Never Walk Alone" at the BBC's Coronation Concert on May 7, 2023, to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III. In 2022, Serbian President Aleksandar Vui awarded him a Gold Medal of Merit.
