311 is an American rock band, pronounced “three-eleven.” The group is from Omaha, Nebraska, and was founded in 1988 by guitarist and vocalist Nick Hexum and bassist Aaron “P-Nut” Wills, lead guitarist Jim Watson, and drummer Chad Sexton. Currently, Jim Watson is replaced by Tim Mahoney. 311 plays reggae-rock, rap-rock, funk rock, alternative rock, and alternative metal genres. The band has released thirteen studio albums, two live albums, four EPs, four compilation albums, and four DVDs.

The first independent release by 311 was an EP entitled Downstairs. “Feels So Good” was the single in this EP and a staple of most 311 live shows. Dammit was the second independent release by 311, followed by Unity, Music, The Blue Album, Transistor, Live, Omaha Sessions, Sound system, and many more. Sound system (1999) and From Chaos (2001) are the two gold-certified albums, while Greatest Hits’ 93–’03 (compilation) went platinum. A few of the chart-topping singles by 311 are “Don’t Stay Home,” “Down,” “All Mixed Up,” “Come Original,” “Flowing,” “You Wouldn’t Believe,” and “Love Son.”

311 bought a recording studio in North Hollywood, California, in 1995. The studio was named “The Hive.” Since then, the band has recorded all the discographies at The Hive. In 2017, the band revealed the new album’s title, “Mosaic.” This was their 12th studio album and their 10th consecutive debut in the Top 10 of the US Billboard 200. “Voyager” (2019) is their latest thirteen studio album, including 13 hit songs. Voyager secured 18th peak position in the US billboard 200. The latest live album released by the American rock band 311 was “Mardi Grass 2020 (live),” which covers hits like “All mixed up,” “Silver,” and “Gap.”

311’s hosted a Festival Cruise departed from Miami on February 25, 2015, aboard the Norwegian Pearl. It made port in Jamaica. The lineup included 311 with three sets, Dirty Heads, Pepper, Chali 2na, and RX Bandits. 2017 marked the group’s fifth Caribbean Cruise onboard the Norwegian Jade as the Pearl was in drydock.

In 2018, 311 and The Offspring toured on the Never-Ending Summer tour. That summer, The Offspring released a cover of 311’s “Down,” and 311 released a “reggaefied” cover of The Offspring's “Self Esteem.”
