Cody Daniel Johnson (May 21, 1987) is an American country music singer and songwriter born in Sebastopol, Texas. At age 12, he started his musical career. His father, a church musician, was his teacher as well. Cody honed his vocal and instrumental skills and his music theory knowledge with his father's help. He began performing in public places like cafes and bars, where he quickly learned that his music was well-received.

At the same time, he worked with his father in the local prison system and rode bulls professionally at area rodeos. When Cody was 19, the prison warden persuaded him to devote himself entirely to his music. Before releasing his first album for a major label, Ain't Nothin' to It, in January 2019, he self-released six albums, including Gotta Be Me, which debuted at number two on Billboard's Country Albums chart. In October 2021, he released Human: The Double Album, his second album with a major label.

The song "Til You Can't," he wrote and performed, won two CMAs that year (2022). Cody Johnson's music might be categorized as either modern or neo-traditional country or even Cowboy. According to CMT's Marcus Dowling, many in the industry see Johnson as a leader in the "back to country" movement. Many performers from the classic era of country music, including George Strait, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, and Loretta Lynn, are big influences on Johnson.
