Produced by Madison House Presents and Insomniac Events, Electric Forest is a multi-genre music festival primarily featuring electronic and jam band styles. It has been hosted at the Double JJ Resort in Rothbury, Michigan, since 2008, when it was called the Rothbury Festival. In 2008 and 2009, the Rothbury Music Festival was held. In 2010, it was on vacation. Under its present moniker, Electric Forest, the event first took place in 2011.

The first lineup was announced on February 13, 2008. Four more artists were brought on board by February 25. March 13 saw the addition of Steel Pulse, and April brought seven musicians. Including six more acts, including Phish's Trey Anastasio, the roster was finalized on May 29.

At Rothbury, during Crystal Method, Philip Blaine and Jeremy Stein were standing onstage, and their conversation ignited the concept. After that, Phil informed Insomniac about this idea. Electric Forest was born out of that. Located in Rothbury, Michigan, the festival was held in 2023 from June 22 to the 25th.
