Jermaine Lamarr Cole (January 28, 1985) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and rapper. He is professionally known as J. Cole. He was born in Frankfurt, West Germany. At twelve, Cole began rapping. In 2000, he realized that he wanted to pursue it as a profession. He started collaborating with a local group named Bomm Sheltuh. He rapped and produced as a member of that group. Cole’s musical inspirations include Eminem, Tupac, Nas, and Canibus.

On May 4, 2007, Cole released his debut mixtape entitled, The Come Up. Later on, he kept working on his other projects and released his second mixtape entitled, The Warm Up, on June 15, 2009. He has appeared on Jay-Z’s album, The Blueprint 3, on the track entitled “A Star is Born” in 2009. In January of 2011, Cole supported Drake during his Light Dreams and Nightmares UK Tour.

Cole released his full-length debut studio album on September 27, 2011, named Cole World: The Sideline Story. The album reached the top on the US Billboard 200 chart. The album sold 218,000 copies in its first week’s release. On June 18, 2013, Cole came up with his second studio album, Born Sinner. Other studio albums released by him include 2014 Forest Hills Drive (December 9, 2014), 4 Your Eyes Only (December 9, 2016), KOD (April 20, 2018), and The Off-Season (May 14, 2021).

Cole’s headlining tours include Cole World… World Tour (2011), What Dreams May Come Tour (2013-2014), Dollar & Dram Tour (2013), and a few more.
