James Vernon Taylor (March 12, 1948) is an American songwriter, singer, and guitarist. Married to Carly Simon, Taylor has four children, including Sally and Ben Taylor. His music genre is mostly folk-rock, rock, pop, soft rock, blues, Christmas music, and country folk. James plays vocals, guitar, harmonica, and keyboard as instruments.
James started his musical career at an early age. From being in a band to writing songs to recruit people in his group, Taylor learned music and mastered his art. He became the first non-British act signed to Apple. Taylor’s debut album came out in 1968 as ‘James Taylor.’ He then continued to be a famous singer with recording around 18 albums in his lifetime. Some of the famous discographies are ‘Walking Man,’ ‘Gorilla,’ ‘In the Pocket,’ ‘JT,’ ‘Flag,’ ‘Dad Loves Work,’ ‘October Road,’ and ‘Never Die Young.’
Vernon won a total of 5 Grammy awards for the categories of Best Pop Vocal Performance, Best Pop Album, and Best Country Collaboration with Vocals in 1971, 1977, 1998, 2001, and 2003, respectively. Other appearances made by him were Banjo on Neil Young’s “Old Man”, Sesame Street performing “Your Smiling Face”, NBC’s Saturday Night Live six times as a musical guest, The Johnny Cash Show, singing ‘Sweet Baby James’, and on the final of Star Academie, the Quebec version of American idol.
