Jessie Reyez (June 12, 1991) is a Canadian songwriter and singer born in Toronto, Ontario. She was introduced to the guitar by her father, and this is what led her to her career in arts and music. As a child, she started to play guitar as well as write her music while she was in high school. After graduation, she decided to drop out of college. Reyez did weird jobs on the side while pursuing her music career.

Jessie Reyez became known in 2016 when her song “Figures” was released. The song was emotional and honest, and it connected with many people. It helped her get noticed in both Canada and the U.S. In 2017, she shared more of her story with her first EP, Kiddo. Her music mixes R&B, pop, and hip-hop, and her voice is strong and full of feeling. She often sings about love, heartbreak, and finding strength.
