Pentatonix is an American a cappella group from Arlington, Texas a suburb of Dallas. Their current lineup consists of Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Scott Hoying, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee. Pentatonix's first EP, PTX, Vol. 1, was published in 2012, and the following year, they released the holiday EP PTXmas. In 2013, their third EP, PTX, Vol. II debuted at number one on the Independent Albums chart and ten on the Billboard 200. Pentatonix inked a deal with Sony Music Entertainment's "flagship" RCA Records in May 2014.

On September 21, 2022, they released the single "Prayers for This World" and announced their sixth Christmas album, Holidays Around the World. The album features new renditions of songs previously released by the band in addition to three originals: "Kid on Christmas" with Meghan Trainor, "Star on Top," and "Prayers For This World," all of which focus on recognizing other cultures throughout the holiday season. On October 28, 2022, the record finally saw release.

The trio also declared their "Pentatonix: A Christmas Spectacular" tour for North America in 2022. Pentatonix, performing as "California Roll" on season nine of The Masked Singer in 2023, wore a different costume. They had the most people competing as a group on the show, as there were five of them.
