Elizabeth Woolridge Grant (June 21, 1985) is an American singer and songwriter born in New York City. She is professionally known by her stage name, Lana Del Rey. During this period, Grant's uncle taught her to play guitar, and she realized that she could write a million songs with those six chords. After that, she started a band called "Lizzy Grant and the Phenomenon" or sometimes "Sparkle Jump Rope Queen" and performed at local nightclubs.

Del Rey's remix of Matt Maeson's 2019 song "Hallucinogenics" was released in September of the following year. The pair had already performed the song live together in the same year. Del Rey's seventh album, Chemtrails Above the Country Club, was released on March 19, 2021. Del Rey wrote and recorded "Say Yes to Heaven" in November 2013 to include it in Ultraviolence but ultimately decided against including it in the final album. She instead released it as a single on May 19, 2023.

On August 15, 2016, unauthorized impersonators of Del Rey published a snippet of the song on Spotify. After hearing from fans that they wanted Lana Del Rey to have a verse in the song instead of only providing backup vocals, on May 26, 2023, Taylor Swift released a new remix of "Snow on the Beach."
