The Latin Recording Academy gives the Latin Grammy Awards (also known as Latin GRAMMYs) to acknowledge exceptional performance in the Latin music business. The Latin Grammy honors works are recorded in Spanish or Portuguese from anywhere globally and have been released in Ibero-America.  September 13, 2000, the Staples Center in Los Angeles hosted the first annual Latin Grammy event.

The first telecast aired from the Staples Center and was televised. The September 11 attacks, the same day the event was scheduled to take place, caused the cancellation of the next year's production. The school chose its first independent board of trustees in 2002. The show was transferred from CBS to Univision in 2005 when the complete transmission was in Spanish.

Las Vegas mostly hosts the Latin Grammy Awards, which have been held there fourteen times. The event occurred in Miami in 2003 after initial years in Los Angeles. One ceremony was also held in Houston and New York City. The FIBES Conference in Seville, Spain, hosted the 24th Annual Latin Grammy Awards on November 16, 2023; this was the first time the prizes were given outside the U.S.
