Matthew West (April 25, 1977) is an American contemporary Christian musician, singer, and songwriter born in Downers Grove, Illinois. Before signing with Universal South Records, he became an independent performer in the late 1990s and published three albums independently. The first track "More" from his 2003 debut album Happy, which won a Dove Award, spent nine weeks atop the Christian Adult Contemporary charts and garnered two more nominations for the prestigious award. "The Heart of Christmas" featured West as an actor as well. Along with Vince Gill, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, he released a Christmas single titled "Leaving Heaven" in 2011. In September 2012, Into the Light came out. September, October, and November 2013 were the dates of Kanye West's Into the Light Tour. On April 28, 2015, he dropped Live Forever, his sixth studio album. His All In tour, which would have followed the September 22, 2017, release of his seventh studio album, was originally scheduled for the same date. The RIAA proclaimed his song "The Motions" a platinum-certified gem. West signed a new agreement with Sony's Provident Music Group in 2020, and in February of that year, his imprint, Story House Music, released Brand New. In April 2021, a deluxe edition was released. My Story Your Glory is West's 22nd studio album, released on February 17, 2023.
