Megan Jovon Ruth Pete (February 15, 1995), better known as Megan Thee Stallion, is an American rapper born in San Antonio, Texas. She initially gained fame because the freestyle videos she posted on Instagram became viral. She is originally from Houston, Texas. 

After signing with 1501 Certified Entertainment in 2018, her singles "Hot Girl Summer" and "Cash Shit" (which was certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA) helped her break into the mainstream the following year. Tory Lanez, a Canadian rapper, shot Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in July 2020 in Los Angeles's Hollywood Hills district. 

Her first album, Good News, heavily included the shooting as a theme. Lanez was found guilty on all charges related to the assault on her in December 2022. Following the shooting trial and an extended legal battle with her record company, Megan Thee Stallion decided in 2023 to pursue a career as an independent musician. It split ways with 1501 and 300 Entertainment.

Her planned third studio album will feature the songs "Cobra" (released November 3, 2023) and "Hiss" (released January 26, 2024). On February 2, 2024, Megan Thee Stallion and Warner Music inked a distribution agreement.
