Rodarius Marcell Green is an American singer and rapper professionally known by his stage name, Rod Wave. He was born in St. Petersburg, Florida. 2016 saw the release of Wave's debut mixtape, Hunger Games Vol. 1. Before he signed with Alamo Records, he released several mixtapes independently. He dropped "Heart on Ice" on his June 14, 2019 mixtape PTSD. YouTube and TikTok helped propel the song to the top of the charts, peaking at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.

On March 6, 2021, he unveiled the album's track listing for SoulFly. His highest-charting single, "Tombstone," which reached number 11 on the Hot 100, is also included on the album. When Wave released "Nirvana" in late 2021, many people mistook it for a suicide message, despite Wave's denials to the contrary. Wave's "Cold December" single came out in January 2022.

Freestyled over Future's "Wait for U" on May 1, 2022, he announced the title of his upcoming album will be Beautiful Mind and that he had handed it in on April 25, 2022. On November 18, 2022, Jupiter's Diary: 7 Day Theory was released, an extended play by Rod Wave. The EP has a paltry eight songs. The project's single "Break My Heart" peaked at position no. 76 on the Billboard Hot 100. September 15, 2023, marked the release of Nostalgia, Rod Wave's fifth studio album.
