Shinedown is an American rock band. The current group lineup consists of Brent Smith, Barry Kerch, Zach Myers, and Eric Bass. On May 27, 2003, the band's debut album, Leave a Whisper, was released to the public. Us and Them is the band's second studio album, released October 4, 2005. Even though it peaked higher on the Billboard 200 chart than Leave a Whisper did (at no. 23), sales were lower than its predecessor's (at no. 53).

Smith stated in February 2021 that the band had begun recording their seventh studio album to release it in the second half of the year. The video for the band's sixth studio album, Attention Attention, was recently published. The film Bill Yukich directed premiered on September 3, 2021. According to a statement released by Smith on August 28, 2021, the album's lead song was scheduled for release in January 2022.


Uncasville, Connecticut, hosted Shinedown on April 16, 2022. The band's seventh studio album, titled Planet Zero, debuted as a single on January 26, 2022. The original release date for the album was April 22, 2022. Singles for "Dead Don't Die" (January 17) and "A Symptom of Being Human" (February 22) were released after the album's debut.
