Smash Mouth is an American rock band. The current lineup consists of Zach Goode (lead vocals), Sean Hurwitz (guitar and backing vocals), Randy Cooke (drums, percussion, and backing vocals), Michael Klooster (keyboards, backing vocals, and programming), and Paul De Lisle (bass and backing vocals). Steve Harwell and Kevin Coleman first met in 1990 and formed Smash Mouth. Harwell, who had previously been a member of the rap group F.O.S., formed Smash Mouth in 1994. (Freedom of Speech).

The band's initial exposure occurred when a demo of "Nervous in the Alley" was broadcast on KOME, a San Jose radio station. Interscope Records signed the band soon after, and their debut album, Fush Yu Mang, was released in 1997, with the addition of a new member: keyboardist Michael Klooster. After signing with Interscope Records, the band also changed its name from Smashmouth to Smash Mouth.
