Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner (October 2, 1951) is an English actor and musician. He is professionally known by his stage name, Sting. He was born in Wallsend, England. Jazz greats Kenny Kirkland, Darryl Jones, Omar Hakim, and Branford Marsalis provided major collaboration to his debut album, The Dream of the Blue Turtles. The album was released in 1985. It featured the popular songs "Fortress Around Your Heart," "Love Is the Seventh Wave," and "Russians," with the latter being based on a melody from the Lieutenant Kijé Suite.

On May 24, 2019, Sting released his fourteenth studio album, My Songs. The album comprises 14 studio re-recordings of his songs from his solo career and time with the Police. It also included one live re-recording. Beginning on May 28 at La Seine Musicale in Paris, the My Songs Tour will wrap up on September 2 in Kit Carson Park, Taos, New Mexico. The first sixteen dates slated for May 22 to September 2, 2020, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, were moved to October 2021.

He had to push out the dates of his six-show run at the London Palladium to April 2022. On 1/17/2023, Sting reportedly performed for fifty of Microsoft's highest-ranking executives at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Some Microsoft employees saw the next day's announcement of plans to lay off 10,000 staff "as a bad look for the company."
